Chins For Sale

Caring for your pet chinchilla isn't really hard or expensive.
Their diets are simple but yet important.

It is important to feed your chinchilla simular to what they would eat in the wild. This diet consists of mainly fibers. These would include Chinchilla pellets, hay and water. Chinchillas have sensitive bellies. You need to keep their diet simple and routine. Check with your local veterinarian on the best product to feed your chin.

Amount To Feed Expect your Chinchilla to eat approx. two tablespoons per day. You can free feed your chinchilla and not worry about it over-eating. Your chinchilla should always have hay available. A good breeder should always supply you with a couple days worth of feed. If you decide to swap your chin over to a new diet, do it gradually as not to upset digestive system. You should feed the feed the breeder was using then gradually decrease breeders feed while adding yours to the breeders feed.

Types Of Hay And Treats The major two types of hay are: Timothy and Alfalfa. Timothy is your best hay. You may also use a mixture of Timothy and Alfalfa. Also if bulk is not available you may use the pressed cubes found in most pet stores.
Chins love treats and are beggars.
They have a big sweet tooth. They will give you their saddest chin eyes and pathetic look when begging.
Always look at what you are giving your chin. Let's take raisins for example....they contain a huge amount of sugar which can cause alot of health problems. It is recomended that you only give your chin 1 treat per day. Some ideas of treats include: 1 raisin, a single dry papaya cube, a small piece of uncooked spaghetti, 1-2 rosehips, or a half of a plain, spoon-sized shredded wheat. These are all acceptable types of treats.
Big NO NO'S are nuts. They contain high fats and can also cause your chinchilla problems. If you want to feed nuts do it in VERY SMALL amounts.

Watering Your Chinchilla Alot of breeders use bottled or filtered water for their chins. This reduces the risk of a protozoan called Giardia. Giardia can cause intestinal problems. If it becomes serious enough it can be life threatening. Fresh water should be provided every day. Even with the use of a water bottle.
